Valerie Evans

Valerie is a mathematician and statistician who has contributed to the success of dozens of surveys in Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. She focuses on the areas of employment, health and agriculture. She has participated in household budget or standard of living surveys in countries from Albania to Yemen, with most of the alphabet in between. Her contributions range across the whole cycle of a survey: sampling, questionnaire design, staff training, fieldwork organisation and the processing and analysis of the data.
She has been involved in the preparation, implementation and analysis of agriculture censuses in Kosova, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria and several Caribbean and Pacific countries; she designed and established a repository of agriculture-related data in Somalia; she has provided statistical and computer training to the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture; and she helped to implement a household Risk and Vulnerability Assessment in Afghanistan.
Valerie lives in Nova Scotia; she speaks English and French, plus some Albanian and Mandarin.
