Sistemas Integrales assisted the World Bank and the Government of Ecuador in the design and implementation of a 4,000-household survey – the Human Mobility and Host Community Survey (Encuesta de personas en Movilidad y Comunidades de Acogida, or EPEC). 

For this study, which assesses the living standards of Venezuelan migrants and their impact on the host community of Ecuador, the biggest challenge was the development of a sampling strategy to account for the uneven territorial distribution of migrants. Sistemas Integrales addressed this challenge by integrating census cartography with georeferenced big data on mobile phone calls between Ecuador and Venezuela.
