International Workshop on Surveys and Impact Evaluation (EEiPP)
Year: 2012
Country: Chile
Subject: Capacity Building & Training
Client: Inter-American Development Bank
Sistemas Integrales played a leading role in a major collaborative initiative in 2012 to train public policy specialists in the theory and practice of impact evaluation. The International Workshop on Surveys and Impact Evaluation (EEiPP) was the brainchild of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), the School of Public Health at the University of Chile, and Sistemas Integrales. The initiative has been supported by the World Bank and the Spanish Impact Evaluation Fund (SIEF).
The first workshop, in January 2012, brought together over one hundred participants from fourteen countries throughout the Americas. Over two intensive weeks:
- Experts from the IDB and the World Bank covered the methodological theory of impact evaluation
- Lecturers from Sistemas Integrales presented sampling theory and other topics of survey methodology
- Formal lectures were complemented with practical workshops on survey design and implementation, including case studies of actual impact evaluation studies
- The School of Public Health presented a view of randomized control trials from an epidemiological perspective.
Subsequent workshops followed this format in Delhi, Berkeley and, again, Santiago, for a total of four workshops within two years. Additionally, in 2014 EEiPP incorporated the whole new element of impact evaluation for business development programs put in place by governments and other institutions.
