Joint Vienna Institute seminar

Year: 2012
Country: Russia and other 3 former USSR countries
Subject: Capacity Building
Client: World Bank

The Joint Vienna Institute, which provides training to government officials from transition countries, offers courses that cover the spectrum of issues encountered in managing a market economy and help create networks of officials across the transition economies.

In 2012 Sistemas Integrales was invited to deliver a week-long course on household survey design and implementation at the institute.

  • The course stressed the importance of fieldwork and data quality and covered the whole survey cycle: probability sampling, questionnaire design, fieldwork and data quality control.
  • It addressed specific characteristics of household surveys in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and introduced participants to the software tools available to them.
  • Most attendees were senior managers from regional statistical institutes in the Russian Federation.
